Gold, Silver & Bronze

Gold, Silver & Bronze

(10th May - 26th May 2012)

Kemistry Gallery is pleased to announce their latest exhibition, Gold, Silver & Bronze. A collaboration with the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Gold Silver & Bronze is the culmination of a term long project by students at the College.

For the past five years  Art Center has brought a group of International Undergraduate BFA students to London for an immersion in British Culture. The trip, entitled ‘London, Ancient and Modern’, aims to join the dots between design and culture.  Art Center students have been privileged to meet Sir Paul Smith, Liz Rideal at The National Portrait Gallery, Rupert Alexander, Jonathan Yeo, Rob Ryan, Neville Brody and Sir Peter Blake amongst other notable Londoners.

As part of this year’s trip the students will be operating an open studio at Kemistry Gallery from the 26th April - 7th May. The culmination of which will be an exhibition of their Olympic inspired observations.  A charming take on the Olympics and London’s cultural heritage, the students have produced a series of prints, featuring knitting marathons, sporting pub signs and acrobatic diving into teacups, among many other illustrative interpretations of the Games.  Limited edition silkscreen prints of all the designs will be available to purchase from the gallery and online.

Art Center College of Design, America’s premier West Coast Design school, is located in Pasadena, California, a leafy town north of Los Angeles. ACCD is a laboratory for innovation and a center of international dialogue in visual communications and design. Since 1930 Art Center has been the place where visionaries are schooled and industry gets a glimpse of what is to come. Art Center is the only design school to be granted official NGO status by the UN, and its alumni include artist Doug Aitken, Film director Tarsem, Product designer Yves Behar, Illustrator Mark Ryden, and VP of Global Design at Ford Motor Company Jay Mays.
