SHOP Magazine Cover Illustrations
(21 November - 26 November)
SHOP Magazine, the world’s leading traveller shopping publication, invites you to an exhibition of its 2011 cover illustrations at the Kemistry Gallery in London from 21 to 26 November 2011.
The week-long exhibition, co-curated by Studio8 Design and Global Blue Media, will feature 38 illustrations by sought-after contemporary illustrators from around the world. Highlights from the exhibition include original works by Adrian Johnson, Pietari Posti, The Heads of State, Neil Webb, SHOUT, Nathalie Lees, Brett Ryder, Darren Hopes and Robert Hanson.
The exhibition will be the first of its kind to be held in association with SHOP Magazine, which publishes more than 3.8 million magazines in 78 editions across 28 countries. The essential shopping companion, SHOP has positioned itself as one of the most important forces in the publishing world, providing the definitive guide to the most exciting places and emerging trends in each destination.
With its innovative design and high production values, SHOP has set a standard of excellence for traveller publications. The use of vibrant and visually charged cover illustrations has been critical to the magazine’s success. With this in mind, SHOP specially commissions known names and talented newcomers to design its cover illustrations each season. This year’s illustrations have built upon SHOP’s established expertise in travel and fashion, refracting different aspects of these themes through highly original works of art.
Limited-edition prints of the illustrations will be available for sale at the exhibition. Profits will go to Kids Company, a London-based charity which provides education and support for vulnerable inner-city children.
‘We strive to provide a dynamic platform upon which emerging and established illustrators can showcase their work. This year we have had the opportunity to work with illustrators who have consistently surprised us with their imagination and enthusiasm for the magazine. All of us at SHOP are delighted to support Kids Company by selling some of the best cover illustrations we have commissioned this year,’ said Emma Cheevers, Editor-in- Chief of SHOP Magazine.
